There have been a number of projects launched in Chester recently. We’re sure you’ve all seen the amazing new arts centre in the city. A combination of a theatre, a cinema and a library – The Storyhouse is amongst some of the exciting recent developments in Chester. It seems that the council are really pushing to make our wonderful city just that bit more spectacular! Now, it’s time to add some greenery to the city centre.

The public is invited to get involved
Tomorrow, a meeting will be held at Chester Town Hall to decide the future of a small part of Chester. George Street Pocket Park is located near the Shropshire Union Canal and City Walls. Unfortunately, it has remained unused for some time now. However, the council are keen to restore it to ‘its former glory’. Cheshire West Council has invited the public to join a team to ‘view plans’ and ‘help develop proposals’. The meeting will take place in the Palatine Room in the town hall from 3.30pm to 6.30pm on Tuesday 24th October.
According to the proposal, there are several ways that the area will be improved. The plans include providing an alternative pedestrian route and installing seating. The project aims to boost footfall to the new bus interchange and city-based businesses. There will also be lighting installed along the pathway, to encourage an ‘evening economy’. We’re excited to see how this turns out!
